Elmira Family Portraits. Boys, mud and fun!

When you are going to be a big brother and mom and dad take you out to tromp around in the woods, life is good.  This little man was not shy when it came to sticks, dirt, climbing and jumping.  I mean isn't that every little guys dream day?

He has some sweet moments with mom and day and when his new baby arrives, we'll be able to complete their family gallery wall.  Mom and I have been working on it and it will include wedding photos, newborn, family and a great mix of frames, canvas and more.

Here are a few faves from our wooded, muddy, family session

Waterloo Family Photographer. Grumpy faces and Real Family Moments

These sweet girls are near and dear to my heart.  And mom and I agree that grumpy faces make the best photos.

I've been photographing them since before they were born (if you count mom's maternity session) and we always have fun playing and running around.  In fact, a session full of running around and throwing leaves and plain old sillyness are my favourite kinds of sessions.

Seriously, moms...let's not be serious and just have fun!

Here are a few of my faves.

KW Newborn Photography. Real Moments

Sometimes during a session, I experience amazing moments between families.  They take my breath away.  They make me feel so much pride in what I do and what I give to my clients and their families.

At this wonderful newborn session, I captured an image that truly made me pause.  Is it perfectly perfect from a technical point of view? Probably not.  Is it perfectly perfect still? YES!

This sweet big sister was just loving on her new baby sister and wow.  This is why I do what I do. These real moments between people who love each other so much just blow me away every.single.time.

Tween Photography. Building self-esteem

Moms,  I'm writing this to you because I see it coming.  I see the tween years only a wee bit off in the distance and it brings me back .

Do you remember when you were 9,10,11 years old?  Do you remember how you felt about yourself? I sure do.  I was the smart kid who wore glasses who never thought she was beautiful.  I was always self conscious about what I was saying, doing, wearing...heck even how I was standing.

Now imagine how a single, beautiful portrait could have done for you when you were that age?  To not see yourself as just the fat, skinny, glasses-wearing, hair never working girl...but to just see yourself as beautiful!

And how many of you don't even have photos of yourself at that age? Don't have anything but the soft blue background (or cool lazers) of a school photo (you know the one you could have done re-takes for 1000 times and still not loved).

Let's give your daughter something you never had the opportunity for, something that studies have shown can help self-worth. Something she'll likely never outright thank you for, but you'll feel it everytime she stares at herself in these images.

I will be offering limited Tween sessions in the new year.  Contact me for more details about how together we can raise self-esteem, give an amazing experience and you can spend some one-on-one time with your daughter (or son).

Waterloo Family Photographer. A little football. A little running. A little love

We scheduled our session near their home in Waterloo.  Mom's only request was a field, possibly a playground and lots of space for the kids to run around.  She wanted natural, fun images that showed the stages of each of the kiddos.  She's speaking my language!  I love the energy of this family and the affection they showed one another.

Rebecca and Geoff, what an amazing family you have.  Your children were polite, kind and let's face it - so much fun.  Please enjoy a few of my favourites from our session.

Blue Mountain Family Photographer

Every year my family travels to Blue Mountain for a cycling event and the last couple years I've booked a few sessions throughout the weekend.  It's so gorgeous up there and so many great spots for a family session.  This year, it was one of those days where you aren't sure if it is going to rain all.day.long, or break just in time for your evening session.  And this session was the latter - with beautiful clouds and a gorgeous landscape!  We settled on the boardwalk outside the Westin Trillium House where it was a little private and a lot beautiful.

Jenn and Kevin, thank you for listening to my panic about the weather and trusting me to go for it!  I'm so glad we were able to capture these beautiful family memories for you. And A was such a great little guy to work with.  Really so much fun for me!  Please enjoy a few of my favourites.

Mississauga Family Portraits. Credit River photography

Can I say how much I love working with this family.  Their kind, friendly and pretty much awesome.  When they asked if I would meet them at their home in Mississauga for our session at the Credit River, I couldn't say no.  It was such a beautiful location and even though we had to avoid a few friendly dogs, the images turned out beautifully.  Didn't Anna do a great job with everyone's clothing?  She really has an eye for coordinating everyone so beautifully.

Anna and Wilson,  thank you for inviting me to your home.  Your neighbourhood is spectacular and your kids will love growing up so close to nature.  Too bad we didn't spot any deer this time around!  Please enjoy a few of my favourites from our session.

Waterloo Newborn Photographer. Collaboration

When Rebecca asked me if I would help her learn more about posing newborns, I couldn't say no.  After all she has helped me out several different times, from assisting to modelling for commercial shoots.  Plus she's so darn fun to work with.  And her kids...well gorgeous.  So here we are at her home, hot and sweaty from both the weather and the space heater keeping little E warm.  We walked through my "flow posing" with newborns and how I pose with older siblings and then Rebecca came up with this great concept for a breastfeeding photo - which turned out absolutely beautiful.

Thank you Rebecca for showing me a thing or two and for the awesome collaborative feel from this session.  You are a stunning, glowing mama and would love to teach or collaborate with you anytime!  Here are a few of my favourite images.

Kitchener Waterloo Family Portraits. West Montrose covered bridge

I've done a few sessions at the West Montrose Kissing Bridge, but never one quite like this.  The weather was... well, questionable most the day.  Melanie and I talked on the phone about what we should do and the forecast changed for the better as we spoke.  And it turned out that the sun came out, the winds calmed and it was truly beautiful light for a family session.  This family is funny, spunky (ahem Miss L), kind and really wonderful to work with.

Melanie and Mike, it was so lovely to meet you and your 2 kiddos.  I really had a great time running around and getting to know each of you a little better.  Please enjoy a few of my faves from the session.
